It’s easy to forget that at this time last year Shinsuke Nakamura was the Royal Rumble winner, and number one contender for the WWE Championship.
Now Nakamura is currently working in a tag team with Rusev, but it doesn’t seem that there’s any solid direction for the duo.
Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that Nakamura has “checked out” and that he’s “living off his pension now” in regards to the money he’s making with WWE. It was also noted that he likely won’t be doing anything important anytime soon.
Last year Shinsuke Nakamura challenged AJ Styles for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania and turned heel when he lost.
As of this writing Nakamura does not currently have a match on the WrestleMania 35 card.
