CM Punk won the AEW World Championship for the second time in his career on Sunday night when he defeated Jon Moxley in the main event at All Out. Punk also turned heads during the post-show media scrum when he took some major shots at Colt Cabana, The Elite and Adam Page.
Following the post-show media scrum it was reported that there’s an incredible amount of heat on CM Punk, and there were also rumors of a backstage altercation involving Punk, Ace Steel and The Elite.
During a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Bryan Alvarez shared more details on the rumored altercation while noting that Tony Khan didn’t know it was happening at the time.
“Apparently there was an altercation after (Punk) left the press conference. He was obviously very mad, and we had multiple, multiple sources state that there was an altercation. I wasn’t there, I don’t know everything that happened, but many people said that there was an altercation with Punk and the Young Bucks. I don’t know who else was there, but it happened, and everybody knew about it, and a security guard did in fact go running out of the press conference.
“I would presume that there were people that did the press conference that knew this had happened, but Tony Khan did not know that it had happened because Tony Khan did not have his phone and nobody told him until after.”
Meltzer then added, “There was a melee. Whatever that word means.”
One way or another it doesn’t seem that Punk’s comments have helped when it comes to squashing rumors of backstage drama in AEW as he seemingly held nothing back during the press conference. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
