On Saturday night Ronda Rousey challenged Liv Morgan for the SmackDown Women’s Championship, and the match ended in controversy as Liv Morgan tapped out while the referee was counting the pin because Ronda’s shoulders were on the mat. After the match Ronda snapped then attacked Liv Morgan and the referee.
Following SummerSlam WWE announced that Ronda Rousey had been suspended and fined an undisclosed amount of money. The official announcement also noted that she won’t be appearing on Friday Night SmackDown this week due to the suspension.
Even though Ronda Rousey is currently suspended due to her actions at SummerSlam it doesn’t sound like she’s going to be off WWE programming for too long.
Dave Meltzer discussed the suspension on Wrestling Observer Radio and noted that Ronda Rousey is booked for WWE Clash at the Castle in September, so it’s likely that he suspension will end before that show takes place. It was speculated that Ronda will be out for less than a month.
Stay tuned for more updates on Ronda Rousey’s suspension as they become available.
