At WrestleMania 38 fans saw Roman Reigns defeat Brock Lesnar to become the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion. Reigns is now carrying two belts, but he has yet to defend his title.
Reigns recently noted that he’s entered a new phase of his career and it was reported that he signed a new WWE deal that will see him work fewer dates. The Tribal Chief will not be part of the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view next month, but the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that the current plan is for Reigns to defend the title at Money in the Bank in July.
It was noted that plans change by the hour, but as of right now the plan is not for Drew McIntyre to challenge Roman Reigns at Money in the Bank. The idea is to hold off on the Reigns vs. McIntyre match until Clash at the Castle in September.
WWE doesn’t seem to have a lot of options as Roman’s feuds with Goldberg and Brock Lesnar have both been blown off. The only other guys WWE has at that level right now for possible opponents are Bobby Lashley or Randy Orton, but nothing is fully settled at this point.
Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
