As noted, WWE released several NXT talents today, and two referees, one of which was Drake Wuertz. Now Fightful Select is reporting that several people in the company have claimed that Wuertz had “nuclear heat brought on by himself,” and that the heat had been going on for over a year.
At one point Wuertz was reportedly close to getting beaten up, as Ezra Judge almost felt the need to get physical with Drake. It was noted that “minorities within NXT took exception to the way things were worded by Wuertz,” and that the incident with Judge was not an isolated incident.
It’s also being reported that Drake had to be warned about not wearing a mask to events, and not getting vaccinated. Drake Wuertz was at one point the head referee of NXT, and it’s being said that he would “position himself for certain roles within the company” and that several times he put heat on others to try to get there.
At the NXT: In Your House pay-per-view Triple H reportedly held a backstage meeting regarding the Black Lives Matter movement and stated that people of all races, genders and religions are welcome in NXT. According to Fightful Wuertz “aggressively gathered his belongings and left” when religion was mentioned.
No fewer than ten wrestlers reportedly claimed they felt uncomfortable about Wuertz because he “loudly criticized”wrestlers for getting vaccinations and flu shots.
