The Elite recently returned to AEW during the Full Gear pay-per-view over the weekend, and they failed to defeat Death Triangle in an AEW Trios Championship match. A best of seven series was then announced and the two teams faced off once again this week on Dynamite.
During the match Kenny Omega bit PAC which was a reference to The Elite’s physical altercation with Ace Steel and CM Punk at All Out where Steel allegedly bit Omega. Kenny also hit the GTS, and Matt Jackson purposely botched a Buckshot Lariat attempt which was seemingly a reference to Punk botching the move during his AEW World title match with Adam Page.
Dave Meltzer addressed the references on Wrestling Observer Radio and noted that people close to CM Punk were not happy with how things played out during the six man tag match on Wednesday.
Tony Khan has remained tight lipped when it comes to CM Punk’s status with AEW, but it’s believed that the company is currently in talks to buy out his contract. Stay tuned for updates.
