In recent years a number of AEW stars have made the jump to WWE such as Jade Cargill, Ricky Saints, Penta and Rey Fenix to name a few. Now it seems that Powerhouse Hobbs could be WWE bound as well.

Fightful Select is reporting that Powerhouse Hobbs’ deal with AEW expired at midnight on January 15, so he is a free agent and eligible to work anywhere. Hobbs did film a match for the January 17 episode of Collision, which opened up the possibility of him appearing on SmackDown while still on AEW TV, but the belief is that won’t be happening unless WWE filmed some sort of vignette.

Sean Ross Sapp was told that Hobbs was not scheduled to travel to Europe to be part of SmackDown this week, and he wasn’t slated to be backstage at the show. WWE could have flown him in yesterday, but that didn’t happen.

The expectation is that Hobbs will be signing with WWE if he hasn’t already. It was also noted that WWE has been interested in the former All Elite Wrestling star for years now.

Stay tuned for updates.
