Originally Sasha Banks and Naomi were set to compete in a six pack challenge on Raw this week, but the match was changed to Asuka vs. Becky Lynch in a singles match after Banks and Naomi walked out.
Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that the walkout wasn’t about Sasha or Naomi potentially getting buried in the main event. According to Meltzer there was something that happened that may have to do with a contract situation involving both Superstars. Meltzer was told that both Sasha and Naomi walked out, so it wasn’t a case of one following the other. The issue wasn’t something that just happened on Monday as it was said to be something that had been building.
With Naomi having such close ties to The Bloodline there’s a possibility that the situation could become a bigger issue if Roman Reigns backs Naomi. Roman Reigns has a lot of backstage power, but it’s not known if he will be getting involved. If Reigns doesn’t get involved WWE could potentially suspend Sasha Banks and Naomi. However, it’s not clear if that will happen due to the depth issues with the current roster.
Meltzer speculated that Sasha Banks and Naomi could have contracts coming up and they may have been offered less money than they were expecting. It’s being reported that the walkout was not a work. Sasha Banks and Naomi went to Vince McMahon with their issues and Vince didn’t back down which led to Banks and Naomi walking out.
More details are expected to come out over the next few days. It’s not known if the situation will be smoothed over, but it’s being said that there’s a lot of heat on Sasha Banks at the moment. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
