On Sunday night Seth Rollins defended the WWE Universal Championship against Bray Wyatt in the main event of Hell in a Cell, and when the match came to an end everyone was talking about it for all the wrong reasons.
The referee stopped the match after Seth Rollins stacked several objects on Bray Wyatt’s head then hit them with a sledgehammer, and fans were not happy with the finish.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, original plans for the finish called for Bray Wyatt to take a gimmicked bump off the top of the cell.
The match would have then been stopped as he would have been unable to continue after the bump.
It was also noted that although Vince McMahon didn’t want The Fiend to be beaten early, he wanted Seth Rollins, Brock Lesnar, Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair as the champions heading into the draft.
