WrestleMania season is here which means there are still several big matches that are being set up, but as of this writing Shane McMahon’s match for the Show of Shows still isn’t official.
It was reported that Shane McMahon vs. Dolph Ziggler was being considered for the WrestleMania 34 card, and Brad Shepard of BodySlam.net recently claimed on the Backstage in WWE podcast that at one point the company reportedly created a graphic for the match.
“Not that long ago, in fact very recently the plan was for Dolph Ziggler and Shane McMahon to have a one-on-one match at WrestleMania. The plan has changed, it looks like anyway. I am not sure what they are going to end up doing with Shane and Sami and Kevin. They were originally going to be allegedly in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal, and they announced a one-on-one match at WrestleMania. I don’t know if that’s going to stick. We’ll see what happens, but I am not sure why that changed, but certainly they had a graphic for it and everything.”
Shepard went on to say that the idea for Shane McMahon vs. Dolph Ziggler was to give Dolph his first singles match at WrestleMania.
On the most recent episode of SmackDown Live, Shane McMahon booked Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn for WrestleMania 34 then he announced that he is taking a leave of absence from his position as Commissioner of SmackDown.
The episode didn’t end very well for Shane as he was later attacked by Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn.
It seems that it’s only a matter of time before Shane McMahon is officially added to the WrestleMania card, but at this point his exact role for the show is unknown.
