WWE has signed a number of talents over the last few years and there was a lot hype surrounding Olympic gold medalist Gable Steveson when he joined the company. It seemed that Steveson was set for a big push, but he has yet to start making regular appearances on WWE programming.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that originally WWE planned to start pushing Gable Steveson last year, but now the talk is that Steveson may be putting his focus on amateur wrestling ahead of the 2024 Olympics.
“Gable Steveson, who has yet to debut for WWE when the original plans were for him to debut with a monster push on Raw starting at the 2022 WrestleMania, is now talking about going back to amateur wrestling and trying to win a gold medal at the 2024 Olympics.”
One way or another it will be interesting to see where things go from here for Gable Steveson as he recently told MMA Fighting that he would love to be part of the Olympics next year, but also indicated that he’s looking to make his in-ring debut with WWE soon.
“And when I mean really, really soon, probably after [WrestleMania] or just a little bit after that. I think being able to understand that this game is different and it’s a process and I’m going to follow the process the right way and just keep moving forward.”
Stay tuned for more updates on Gable Steveson’s status as they become available.
