It’s been months since fans have seen MJF on TV as he last appeared on AEW programming during the June 1 episode of AEW Dynamite when he cut his now infamous promo where he called Tony Khan a “f**king mark.” Since then there’s been a lot of speculation regarding MJF’s status, but it sounds like fans could be seeing him sooner than later.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that current plans call for MJF to return somewhat soon. The exact timeframe for his return is unknown, but AEW will likely be starting negotiations for a new TV deal in a few months so TV ratings will be important to the company from September until the deal is closed.
It was noted that AEW ran into some bad luck with CM Punk, Adam Cole, Bryan Danielson, Kenny Omega the Hardy Boyz and MJF all being out at the same time, but it may end up being a blessing in disguise as they could all be featured on AEW programming when winter comes.
There’s also speculation that following MJF’s promo in Los Angeles the plan was for him to feud with CM Punk when he returned. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
