Roman Reigns debuted his Tribal Chief character when he returned to WWE last year, and since then the current Universal Champion has been receiving a lot of praise for his work.
The Head of the Table is currently the top star on Friday Night SmackDown, and his heel persona has been well received by the wrestling community.
Dave Meltzer discussed Roman’s future on Wrestling Observer Radio, and he compared Reigns to AEW Champion Kenny Omega while saying that they are two heels who are essentially being groomed to be the top babyface in the company down the line.
It was also noted that AEW is trying to book Kenny Omega matches to be exciting, whereas WWE is trying to book Roman Reigns as if they’re telling fans, “‘eh it doesn’t matter, he’s gonna kill the guy.’”
Recently Rey Mysterio challenged Roman Reigns to a Universal Title match inside Hell in a Cell. The Hell in a Cell pay-per-view will air live on Sunday, June 20. Stay tuned for updates.
