Jon Moxley has been one of the key figures in AEW for the last three years and it looks like he’ll be with the company for the long run as it was recently announced that he signed a major contract extension.
Fightful Select reports that several sources indicated Jon Moxley had been working without a contract. Over the summer when Fightful asked about Moxley’s contract status they were told it was, “quite a situation,” and that AEW would do whatever they could to keep Moxley with the company for the rest of his wrestling career.
It was also mentioned that Jon Moxley will work exclusively for AEW and its international partners including NJPW. Moxley has made appearances for GCW, REVOLVER and NEW, but AEW wouldn’t comment on what his new deal means in regards to his status with those promotions.
When AEW issued a press release announcing Jon Moxley’s five year contract extension it was noted that he will also be taking on a coaching and mentorship role with the company. Jon Moxley helped lead a talent meeting after the All Out pay-per-view which was said to have been well received. Most AEW talent who weighed in on the matter have spoken highly of Moxley’s influence. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
