Jon Moxley has been a key figure with AEW since the beginning and it looks like he’ll be with All Elite Wrestling for years to come. It was announced on Friday that Moxley signed a five year contract extension that will also see him take on coaching and mentorship roles with the company.
PWInsider reports that at one point Jon Moxley’s deal with AEW had expired and he was working on a handshake agreement until the new deal was finalized. There was never any concern that Moxley was looking to go elsewhere.
It was also noted that the new deal was signed right around the All Out pay-per-view. At All Out Jon Moxley defended the AEW World Championship against CM Punk, but he was defeated by Punk that night. A few days later it was announced that the title had been vacated, and Moxley defeated Bryan Danielson in the finals of the AEW World Title tournament to become the first three time AEW World Champion in company history.
Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
