James Ellsworth certainly maximized his minutes when he faced Braun Strowman on Raw a few years ago, as he made a connection with the audience, and eventually WWE offered him a contract.
Ellsworth made his big return to WWE programming a few weeks ago and since then he’s been doing what he does best, helping Carmella retain her title.
Even though Ellsworth has been appearing on television, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that he has not signed a new deal with the company.
At this point in time he’s working on a per date basis, and he’s only been working on television, not live events.
James Ellsworth’s status seems to indicate that the company doesn’t have any long term plans for him, but the good news is that his current WWE run is helping with his indie bookings, as there are very few talents who appear on WWE programming that indie promoters can use.
