After returning to the ring earlier this year, Daniel Bryan finally managed to earn a WWE Title shot when he defeated The Miz at Super Show-Down a few weeks ago.
Originally Daniel Bryan was set to challenge AJ Styles for the belt at Crown Jewel on Friday, but after Bryan informed WWE officials he wouldn’t be traveling to Saudi Arabia for the event, the title match was moved up to this week’s episode of SmackDown Live.
But fans who are waiting to see Daniel Bryan get more big opportunities in the future might not want to hold their breath, as Bryan Alvarez recently noted on Wrestling Observer Live that WWE seems to be moving on from his feud with AJ Styles following the title match (via Ringside News).
“I was told that the finish on SmackDown last night was the Crown Jewel finish. So it looks like no big plans for Daniel Bryan throughout the rest of the year. He had just won a tournament for a championship match at Crown Jewel and he didn’t want to go to Crown Jewel so they had their match on SmackDown and they had a finish and everyone else moves on.”
