Some big moves have been made over the last few years and in recent months The Lucha Bros. and their status with AEW has been a very hot topic. It was reported that they were expected to jump ship and join WWE when their deals expired. However, Rey Fenix’s deal with All Elite Wrestling was extended due to injury time.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that the situation with Penta and Fenix happened because they both felt stagnant in AEW and they knew there was interest from WWE.

Tony Khan thought he could keep the former AEW Tag Team Champions by offering them more money, which is something he reportedly did. However, Penta and Fenix had already made the decision to leave the company.

When Tony Khan and others in AEW wanted to talk to The Lucha Bros. about renewing their deal they were told to talk to their agent. AEW knew they were gone at that point, so Tony Khan made the decision to not use them on television.

While Rey Fenix is still under contract with All Elite Wrestling, Penta parted ways with the company when his deal was up. Recently WWE has been airing teasers on TV which are rumored to be teasers for Penta.
