You can never say never in the world of professional wrestling as former WWE Divas Champion Saraya recently made her AEW debut and it seems that she’s being set up for a feud with Britt Baker.
Fightful Select reports that even though Saraya was sidelined due to injury for the last few years there were some confusing messages regarding her status.
It’s also being reported that Vince McMahon and John Laurinaitis were the ones who made the decision not to renew her deal. When the announcement was made publicly is when Saraya was informed. Those who spoke on the subject noted that her deal was surprisingly low and restricted her from doing outside projects to some degree.
About a month after her deal expired the new regime reportedly offered Saraya a General Manager role. WWE higher ups also noted that if she wanted to return to the ring then they would make that happen. There are a lot of rumors regarding WWE getting doctors to get her checked and cleared, but it’s being reported that’s not true as WWE didn’t have her checked at all for a possible in-ring return.
Saraya reportedly went through three extensive health checks to get herself cleared. Prior to the new regime taking over WWE wasn’t interested in bringing her back, and the company wouldn’t sign off on her to be examined as they considered the case closed.
Triple H’s regime made an effort to get Saraya to return as Triple H was shocked that the previous regime let her go. Ultimately the freedom to do outside projects and other deal terms led to Saraya signing with AEW, but there’s said to be a positive relationship between Saraya and WWE.
