When it comes to the world of professional wrestling everybody loves surprises and earlier this week on AEW Dynamite fans saw the surprise debut of Roderick Strong. The former NXT North American Champion saved Adam Cole from a beat down at the hands of the Jericho Appreciation Society and then he reunited with his former Undisputed Era stablemate.

The debut was shocking to many as Strong’s status with WWE was unknown. PWInsider is reporting that Roderick Strong’s WWE contract actually expired in November of 2022. It’s being said that since WWE doesn’t announce NXT departures, and because it was a matter of his contract expiring and not a release the departure flew under the radar.

As far as Roderick Strong’s AEW debut goes, it was timed so that it would take place after Adam Cole’s return, and it was also set up to take place in Florida where Strong live so that he wouldn’t be spotted traveling.

AEW and Strong had been quietly talking for some time and it’s being said that he was hidden backstage so that his debut wouldn’t be spoiled. What was your reaction when Strong debuted on Dynamite? Sound off in the comments below.
