Daniel Bryan hasn’t been shy about letting the world know his WWE contract was set to expire soon, and he recently said during an interview that despite what some people thought it would not be expiring in September.
Now Fightful Select is reporting that multiple sources confirmed that Bryan’s contract either expiring last week, or was set to expire following his loss to Roman Reigns on SmackDown last week.
High level sources also noted that they had heard about Bryan’s contract expiring, but that he hadn’t spoken openly about his status. It’s also being said that there was no talk of a farewell for Bryan backstage at SmackDown last week, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that farewells didn’t take place in private.
Bryan’s contract status doesn’t mean that he won’t end up signing a new deal with the company, or that he won’t work with WWE while he’s not under contract. So far the only thing that’s been confirmed is that his deal was set to expire last week.
The former WWE Champion has said that he’s looking to wrestle part time moving forward, and that he’s interested in potentially wrestling for other companies and WWE. Stay tuned for updates as they become available.
