On Sunday night the AEW Double or Nothing pay-per-view aired live from Las Vegas, and MJF made his big return. MJF confronted Adam Cole, hit him with a low blow, then proceeded to cut a promo where he declared that he’s not leaving AEW.
Fightful Select reports that originally there were plans for MJF to wrestle Adam Cole in late 2023, and the idea of Adam Cole winning the title was considered. However, those plans fell apart due to Adam Cole’s injury.
It’s being said that a potential Adam Cole vs. MJF match is still far off because Cole is not anywhere near ready for an in-ring return. All parties involved with the feud wanted a way to turn it off until the match can happen.
People in AEW have said that the creative plans they’ve heard of for MJF seem out of left field and would likely work out very well moving forward.
