Last year CM Punk dropped some major pipe bombs during the post-show press conference following All Out. Punk took shots at The Elite, MJF and Colt Cabana, and then he went on hiatus due to injury. In the months that followed there was a lot of speculation regarding CM Punk’s future with AEW, but he finally returned to TV back in June during the debut episode of Collision.
Recently there’s been a lot of talk about what The Elite’s next move would be as it was reported that WWE was interested in the group as they were in contract negotiations with AEW. Ultimately The Elite decided to stay with AEW as it was announced earlier this week that all four members signed multi-year deals with the company.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that even with the signing there are still significant behind the scenes issues that haven’t been settled between CM Punk and The Elite. It’s being said that due to the issues Tony Khan has to keep doing a balancing act.
Since returning to AEW back in June, CM Punk has mostly been appearing on Collision which has kept him away from The Elite. One way or another there seems to be a lot of fan demand when it comes to a possible feud involving Punk and The Elite, but it doesn’t seem that the feud is any closer to playing out on TV.
