Backstage News On Braun Strowman’s Tag Team Title Match At WrestleMania

For weeks now fans have been waiting for WWE to confirm Braun Strowman’s match for WrestleMania, and Monday night he won a battle royal to earn a shot at the Raw Tag Team Titles.

Now it seems that the Monster Among Men is set to challenge The Bar for the belts on the Grandest Stage of Them All, but there are still a lot of questions that need to be answered in regards to the match.

WWE officials were holding off on booking Strowman in case he was needed for the Universal Title match, but Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that Strowman is no longer needed for that match.

“The deal with Strowman is that the idea was that they didn’t want to commit to a Strowman match, nor a Sheamus and Cesaro match because the fall back for Strowman if he wasn’t going to be in the main event was Sheamus and Cesaro. Whether it was going to be a match or an angle, and it was actually going to be an angle at first. Now they are confident that Strowman isn’t need for the main event, so they did this thing to get to Sheamus and Cesaro against Strowman in a Tag Team Championship match. Whether Strowman has a partner or not is — Vince may know, but nobody else does.”

Now everyone’s trying to figure out if this means Strowman will be challenging for the belts by himself, or if he’ll end up choosing a partner.

There’s been speculation that he could pick Elias to be his partner, but apparently plans for his partner are still up in the air.

“Vince is gonna make the call. So, people who are asking if it’s going to be a handicap match, or if he’s going to pick a partner, the answer is that Vince hasn’t decided, or at least if he has he hasn’t told anybody, or has told almost nobody. Because that’s still up in the air. So that’s why this thing happened the way it did and why Strowman wasn’t locked into anything, and why Sheamus and Cesaro didn’t have a match either. It was something that’s been on the table, but not a definite as far as those guys being linked with each other on the show.”

Do you think Braun should challenge for the belts by himself or recruit a partner? Sound off in the comments below.
