Backstage News On Asuka’s First Main Roster Opponent

This week on Monday Night Raw it was announced that Asuka will be joining WWE’s flagship show and it now seems as though the women’s division has been put on notice.

No Mercy is next Sunday night and will see Alexa Bliss defend her Raw Women’s Championship against Emma, Sasha Banks, and Nia Jax in a fatal four-way match. It was previously reported that Emma was only added to the match so that she could take the pin and allow both Banks and Jax to remain strong, but it seems Asuka’s arrival may have changed these plans.

Emma was Asuka’s first real opponent down in NXT when she was aligned with Dana Brooke and the duo had an interesting rivalry that culminated in a loss for Emma at NXT Takeover: London. According to a report from Cagesideseats, it seems that WWE wants to rehash this rivalry with the Australian star when Asuka makes her main roster debut, so they need to ensure Emma looks like a valid threat to Asuka coming out of No Mercy.

The Empress of Tomorrow currently has a collarbone injury that could keep her sidelined for a number of weeks, with rumors stating that TLC could be where she makes her main roster debut. The women’s locker room will definitely get a boost from Asuka’s arrival and a feud with the undefeated former champion is exactly what Emma needs right now as well.
