It was a big weekend for not only the stars of the WWE main roster, but for the stars of NXT as well. The main roster got the opportunity to fight for brand supremacy at Survivor Series, and the NXT roster got the chance to showcase their skills at NXT Takeover: WarGames
NXT Champion Drew McIntyre put his title on the line against Adrade “Cien” Almas on Saturday night, and Adrade shocked the world when he managed to defeat McIntyre and win the belt for the first time in his career.
Unfortunately for Drew McIntyre, he was also injured during the match, and it looks like he may need surgery, so he could be sitting on the sidelines for a little while.
Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that Drew McIntyre was injured during the final spot of the match, but the end of the match did go as planned with Andrade “Cien” Almas picking up the win after hitting Drew with the DDT.
There’s also been speculation that WWE officials were considering calling Drew McIntyre up to the main roster, but that’s not confirmed at this point, and what happens next with Drew depends on the results of his MRI.
