John Cena vs. Roman Reigns is now officially set for the No Mercy pay-per-view on September 24, and WWE has been hyping up the contest as a “WrestleMania worthy” match. No Mercy is shaping up to be a big event with Cena vs. Reigns on the card and Brock Lesnar is also set to defend his Universal Championship against the Monster Among Men Braun Strowman.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that WWE officials are looking ahead to WrestleMania and the idea is to build up Roman Reigns for a coronation as the top star in the company.
In regards to who will win the match at No Mercy, the whole point of the match is to get Roman Reigns ove, but if he does end up losing it’s because WWE officials feel a loss would be more effective in getting Roman over in the long run.
As noted, it’s been rumored that the plan is for Roman Reigns to face Brock Lesnar in the main event of WrestleMania 34.
