When Jinder Mahal challenged Randy Orton for the WWE Championship, no one really knew what to expect, but WWE decided to go full speed ahead with a push for Mahal and give him the belt. It’s no big secret that WWE is trying to expand into India. The company recently opened an office in the country, and Jinder Mahal has been reaping the benefits.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that Impact Wrestling sources were told directly from Sony SIX that Jinder Mahal’s push is believed to be directly related to Impact Wrestling’s recent tour of India.
The report also notes that WWE’s strategy in the UK changed significantly when ITV’s World of Sport came in with a strong TV backing, and plans for the UK have changed again now that the ITV project has fallen apart. WWE was working on plans for monthly TV tapings for their UK series on the WWE Network, but those plans appear to have changed.
