It’s that special time of year when viewers are bombarded with award shows to watch such as the Academy Awards, the Grammys, the Golden Globes, the Critics Choice Awards and more.
But for wrestling fans there’s really only one award show to look forward to, and that award show is the Slammy Awards.
The Slammy Awards were an annual tradition in WWE for many years, but unfortunately the company has moved away from the concept, and the award show hasn’t aired since 2015.
So could the Slammy Awards be returning to WWE in the future?
PWInsider notes that WWE officials were looking at new concepts for the event last year, but ultimately decided not to bring it back.
It’s also being reported that there’s been no discussion of the award show returning, but it’s possible that it will be resurrected sometime in the next few years.
It’s unfortunate that it doesn’t sound like we’re going to be seeing the return of the award show anytime soon. The Slammys could certainly benefit from a few tweaks to the concept, but there’s no denying that it’s a fun show to watch.
