Finn Balor dropped the NXT Championship to Samoa Joe on Thursday and now it looks like he could be main roster bound. Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows recently debuted on the main roster in WWE, and Finn has been teasing an alliance with the duo for quite a while now.
Although Finn dropped the belt it was noted on Wrestling Observer Live that he may continue to work with NXT for a little while. The original plan for the Samoa Joe/Finn Balor feud was to have Joe win the belt and then build to a big stipulation match at the next Takeover. This plan was apparently in place before Anderson and Gallows debuted and it was speculated that WWE could stay the course with their plan. It was noted by Bryan Alvarez that the next set of NXT tapings will answer a lot of questions.
NXT will be returning to Full Sail University on Thursday to tape some upcoming episodes. The next Takeover event is currently scheduled for June 8.
If Finn does stick around for a rematch with Samoa Joe, it sounds like Finn Balor could temporarily end up in a situation like Kevin Owens was in last year where he worked both NXT and the main roster for a while. However, Finn’s main roster debut has yet to be confirmed. Finn told fans at the NXT live event on Thursday that he would see them on Monday, but he’s been known to be a tease.
