Backstage News On The Fatal 5-Way Match And Original Plans For Raw

Asuka recently vacated the NXT Women’s Championship, and she’s set to join the WWE main roster at the TLC pay-per-view later this month. There’s a lot of anticipation for Asuka’s debut and this week on Raw her first main roster opponent was decided.

Emma, Alicia Fox, Sasha Banks, Bayley and Dana Brooke all faced off in a fatal 5-way elimination match, and it was Emma who earned the right to face Asuka after she picked up the win.

PWInsider reports that plans changed a few times, as original plans called for Emma, Nia Jax and Alicia Fox to face off in a triple threat match to determine Asuka’s opponent for TLC. The decision was then made to move the match to next week’s show, then the decision was made to do a fatal 5-way match on this week’s show instead, so that the company can hype up Asuka’s debut at TLC on the go-home Raw next week.
