This week’s episode of WWE Monday Night Raw was originally set to feature a Cruiserweight Championship match with Enzo Amore defending the belt against Cedric Alexander, but the match was canceled.
Earlier in the day Enzo Amore revealed on social media that he had been hospitalized due to illness, and WWE later confirmed that he wouldn’t be appearing on Raw after he was diagnosed with the flu.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that Enzo got sick while he was with WWE for the holiday tour. He had been working with Kalisto all week, but did not wrestle in Toronto, and he reportedly didn’t want to visit the hospital in Toronto.
Amore later flew to Miami, Florida so he could make it to Raw and checked himself into the hospital.
The Cruiserweight Champion eventually checked himself out of the hospital and showed up at Raw ready to compete, but officials were concerned that he might be contagious, so they told him to leave.
Enzo has reportedly been cleared to return to the ring, so it’s possible that he could be wrestling again as soon as this weekend. As noted, the Cruiserweight Champion was pulled from the Mixed Match Challenge, but there’s no word on why he was pulled as the tournament doesn’t start until Tuesday, January 16.
