Backstage News On Why The Cruiserweight Title Changed Hands On Raw

Enzo Amore won the Cruiserweight Championship when he defeated No Mercy a few weeks ago, and whether you love him or hate him, there’s no denying that he’s made the cruiserweight division a lot more exciting with his antics. Amore was set to defend the title against Kalisto at TLC, but instead he ended up defending it in a lumberjack match in the main event of Raw this week.

Amore dropped the title to Kalisto after Kalisto put him away with the Salida Del Sol, and many fans were surprised to see Enzo lose the belt.

PWInsider is reporting that original plans called for Enzo Amore to defend the Cruiserweight Title against Neville, but the decision was made to go with Kalisto instead. The decision was made partially because WWE had written themselves into a corner with the stipulation that prevented Neville from getting a title shot after attacking Enzo a few weeks ago, and also partially because Raw fell on Eddie Guerrero’s birthday which allowed Kalisto to cut a promo tying the title win into Eddie’s legacy.

After the match was over Kalisto cut a backstage promo saying that he always knew he would be Cruiserweight Champion, and he wants to give opportunities to people who deserve it.

He also dedicated his title win to Eddie Guerrero on Twitter.
