Goldberg shocked the world when he made short work of Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series. After 12 years away from the ring, Goldberg took Brock Lesnar out with two spears and a Jackhammer. The finish to the match shocked fans watching around the world, and it also shocked quite a few people in the WWE locker room.
The match had a big fight feel, and according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the announcers were instructed to call the match like a fight, unlike the rest of the card. It was noted that WWE feels today’s fans are familiar enough with UFC, and they know fights can end quickly, so they wouldn’t feel ripped off by the finish.
Goldberg has confirmed that he will be entering the 2017 Royal Rumble, but he’s playing things cool regarding where he will go from there. In a recent interview, Goldberg made it clear that he’s focused on the Royal Rumble.
“I’m only as good as my next appearance and my next match,” he said. “I’m concentrating on the Royal Rumble and that’s it. I don’t have any plans of doing anything afterwards. My focus is on the 29 other men that I’m going to have to crucify to win that damn match.”
Despite what Goldberg is saying about his post-Royal Rumble future with WWE, it’s rumored that the company is setting him up for a big match at WrestleMania 33 in Orlando next year. You can get more on that below.
