On Friday it was reported that WWE released another wave of talents, and this time around 14 total Superstars were cut from the roster. Two names that stood out the most to fans were Fandango and Tyler Breeze, collectively known as Breezango.

Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that when Breezango were sent to NXT the plan was for them to be an experienced team who could work with younger talents, and the idea was that they could help with ratings for NXT when the show was competing with AEW Dynamite because they were bigger names from the main roster.

However, Meltzer noted that ratings were no longer a factor when Tyler Breeze and Fandango were released because NXT and AEW Dynamite are no longer going head to head.

The mindset was that WWE could send talents who had been on “real TV” to NXT to help with quarter hour ratings. It was noted that Breeze and Fandango did not draw ratings for NXT.
