WrestleMania weekend was action packed, and on Sunday night Roman Reigns successfully defended his Universal Championship in the main event when he pinned both Edge and Daniel Bryan at the same time.
Fightful Select reports that Paul Heyman was instrumental when it came to putting the storyline for the match together, and that his role when it comes to creative for Roman’s matches is similar to his role with Brock Lesnar.
It was also noted that even though WWE changed other finishes before the show, Roman Reigns picking up the victory was the plan early on heading into WrestleMania 37.
Daniel Bryan and Edge were also said to be heavily involved when it came to coming up with ideas for the match, and Daniel Bryan is being credited for coming up with the double submission spot.
The match was reportedly well received backstage and Roman Reigns received rave reviews for how he’s been performing with his current character.
Daniel Bryan being added to the match to make it a triple threat was discussed for well over a month before WrestleMania, but plans weren’t officially put into place until the week of the Fastlane PPV.
