Cody Rhodes was announced as an Executive Vice President when All Elite Wrestling first launched, and it seemed that Cody was being positioned to be one of the driving forces behind the company. However, it seems that Tony Khan taking full control of creative played a big role in Cody’s decision to part ways with AEW.
Sports Illustrated reports that one of the key factors that led to Cody Rhodes leaving All Elite Wrestling was the fact that he lost all of his responsibilities involving booking.
It was noted that Dusty Rhodes’ contributions as a booker were integral to his legacy, and for Cody AEW represented a chance to pay homage to his father as a booker while cementing his own legacy. It’s being said that losing the opportunity to do that hurt Cody.
Cody Rhodes is expected to sign with WWE, and it was noted that he could end up filming segments at the WWE Performance Center as soon as this weekend.
It was recently reported that Vince McMahon is expected to give Cody Rhodes a big push, and you can get more on that here. Stay tuned for more updates on Cody’s status as they become available.
