Jon Moxley defeated Chris Jericho to become the AEW World Champion at the Revolution pay-per-view back in February, and he’s been taking on all comers ever since.
On Wednesday night Jon Moxley will defend the AEW World Championship against his longtime rival Kenny Omega at the Winter Is Coming edition of Dynamite.
Moxley is still in possession of the IWGP United States Title, and it’s been rumored that he could be defending the belt at Wrestle Kingdom 15 in January. Dave Meltzer noted on the Saturday Night’s Main Event podcast that as of last Thursday Mox was not set to work the show.
Meltzer also noted that Moxley retaining, or losing the AEW World Title to Kenny Omega, will have no bearing on his potential return to NJPW.
The main factor regarding his return to NJPW is AEW President Tony Khan working out a deal with NJPW officials. It’s being said that Jon Moxley does not have to drop the title to return to work Wrestle Kingdom.
