Over the last few years NXT has become much more than just a developmental territory for WWE, but it seems that the main roster is where the big money is.
During a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio Dave Meltzer noted that with the exception of NXT Champion Finn Balor, few talents in NXT are making big money.
When asked if names like Adam Cole, Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa have big money contracts, Meltzer noted that they’re “probably in the low $100,000’s.”
Meltzer noted that one top star who has been there for years is only making $130,000, and that Adam Cole is probably in the same range.
“I know one of the top people in NXT that’s been there for a long time, and he should be making a ton, but he’s making $130,000. So, they might be making like $130,000, $150,000. Adam Cole might be making a little more, he should be. But that’s the range.”
It was also noted that starting pay in NXT is $50,000 – $60,000, depending on the talent. Some talents such as recruits who played football might get more, and raises are also given to a certain level.
