This week’s episode of Monday Night Raw had a special Legends Night theme, and the show featured appearances from some big names such as Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Booker T, Torrie Wilson and more.
Drew McIntyre successfully defended his WWE Championship against Keith Lee in the main event, and after the match came to an end Goldberg made his return and challenged Drew to a title match at the Royal Rumlbe, then shoved him as the show went off the air.
Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that WWE made the decision to book Goldberg vs. Drew McIntyre for the Royal Rumble pay-per-view on Saturday night.
It’s being said that Goldberg showing up on Raw wasn’t meant to be a swerve, or a last minute decision. WWE officials reportedly decided over the weekend that they didn’t have anybody ready to face Drew McIntyre at the Royal Rumble, so they went with Goldberg.
Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
