On Wednesday night the special Winter Is Coming edition of AEW Dynamite aired live on TNT, and the show featured some big moments.
Sting shocked the world when he made his debut as Team Taz was attacking Cody Rhodes and Darby Allin. The WWE Hall of Famer then entered the ring and stared down Arn Anderson, Cody Rhodes and Darby Allin.
Shortly after Sting’s big debut it was announced that Tony Khan confirmed Sting has signed a multi-year deal with All Elite Wrestling.
Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that Sting won’t just be a legend who makes sporadic appearances on AEW programming. The current plan is to feature Sting as a regular character on TV. AEW wanted “a star from the old generation of TNT as a regular” in hopes that they can draw in lapsed wrestling fans.
It was also noted that Sting won’t be taking any bumps, and in the event that he does get physical, the physical stuff will be done with the utmost caution.
As noted AEW has announced that Sting will speak on next week’s episode of Dynamite.
