We’re all excited after NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III. Every match delivered in pretty much any way you could imagine and one of the most exciting aspects is the fact Kyle O’Reilly and Bobby Fish seem to be a unified force in NXT.
Adam Cole is rather exciting too and he only adds to the fun. But this article is about The Authors Of Pain. They dropped their NXT Tag Team Championships after an incredible match against SAnitY.
Most people thought Authors of Pain were unbeatable. After all, they seem to have all it takes from an incredible look, amazing ability, and one of the best managers in pro wrestling history.
Dave Meltzer recently discussed the NXT tag team division on Wrestling Observer Radio and wondered if AOP could be part of the next wave of call-ups to WWE’s main roster.
“It was hard to sense with the Authors of Pain whether that loss is setting to bring them up,” Meltzer said. “I mean Fish and O’Reilly did attack them both so they could be doing a three-way program and it feels early for the Authors of Pain to go up [to the WWE main roster] but you know SAnitY obviously isn’t.”
If Authors of Pain stick around in NXT for a little while longer it wouldn’t be the worst thing for them. But they could also easily dominate on either WWE main roster brand at this point.
If WWE decides to pull the trigger on AOP right now one thing’s for sure that the NXT tag team division would certainly be in good hands. reDRagon and SAnitY look like they’ll be keeping themselves busy for a while.
We’re not saying it’s a lock because Meltzer noted it feels like it’s too early for a main roster call-up for Akam and Rezar. But WWE has called people up early in the past if they found a slot someone could fit into.
