Many fans were surprised when Kurt Angle cracked a quick TNA joke on Monday Night Raw when he told Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens that he heard the company is hiring. It’s not every day that you hear a TNA reference on WWE programming, so Kurt’s comments got a lot of people talking.
Impact Global Champion Austin Aries recently talked about Kurt’s comments during a media conference call, and he pointed out that technically TNA no longer exists.
“I didn’t think a whole lot of it, I think every wrestling company is hiring,” Aries said via The Mirror. “They have obviously done quite a bit of hiring themselves over the last six months. I think that’s what wrestling companies do. Someone should probably give them a memo and update them that TNA no longer exists, so their writing team was a little outdated on the joke.”
Aries went on to say that Impact Wrestling is hiring, and he said that there are a lot of perks that go along with working for the company.
“But hey, it’s cool man, yeah we are hiring, if you come here we won’t test you, or take money out your pocket for smoking marijuana. There are a lot of perks to coming here, yeah, it’s all about what you want for your career and your life.”
Austin Aries was originally set to defend his title against Alberto El Patron at the Redemption pay-per-view later this month. However, after Alberto was released a few days ago the match was changed to a triple threat which will see him defend against Pentagon Jr. and Rey Fenix.
Even though the champion is disappointed he won’t be facing Alberto, he hyped up the triple threat contest.
“I’m extremely disappointed that I’m not going to be able to get in there with Alberto, because I was really looking forward to that. It’s an unfortunate situation but we are moving on. All things being equal, the match up I ended up having at WrestleCon was more challenging and more exciting, so we are looking forward to April 22.”
