After several years away from a WWE ring, Mickie James finally made her return at NXT TakeOver: Toronto. Mickie James is a 5 time WWE Women’s Champion and a 1 time WWE Divas Champion, and on Saturday she tried to add another title to her resume.
Mickie James challenged Asuka for the NXT Women’s Championship, but Mickie failed to defeat Asuka, and Asuka walked out with the title. Mickie returned to a big pop from the crowd, followed by a, “welcome back” chant, and then the action kicked off.
Mickie James was at the top of her game, and so was Asuka. They battled back and forth for quite a while, but the end of the match came when Asuka locked in the Asuka Lock, and made Mickie tap out.
After the match Mickie James and Asuka had a stare down in the ring, and Mickie tried to shake Asuka’s hand, but instead of shake Mickie’s hand, Asuka simply held up her title and smiled at Mickie.
