Asuka is the current NXT Women’s Champion, and she also happens to be undefeated in NXT. On August 14 Asuka’s historic NXT Women’s Title reign will cross the 500 day mark, and she’s set to defend the belt at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn III on August 19.
The undefeated NXT Women’s Champion recently spoke to Newsweek about her big upcoming title match, and she said that when she signed with WWE she knew she wanted to break records from day one.
“When I decided to sign a contract with WWE, I decided two things. I was determined not only to win, but to leave [breaking] records. That is something I feel like I can do as a return to WWE [for hiring me].”
Asuka has been a force to be reckoned with in NXT, but she also noted that she wants to go to the main roster when the time is right.
In regards to which main roster stars she wants to face, Asuka says Sasha Banks and Charlotte Flair are on her list.
“I don’t use the words ‘respect’ or ‘admire’ toward my opponents, but I’m interested to have matches with Sasha and Charlotte. Those two women I’ve never faced before.”
