A few weeks ago TNA President Billy Corgan revealed the TNA Grand Championship on Impact. Corgan announced that a tournament would be held to crown the first ever champion, and the finals would take place at Bound For Glory.
For those of you that missed it, Grand Championship matches consist of three rounds, that are scored by three judges using a 10 point system, and the matches can be won at any point via pinfall or submission. If the match goes all three rounds the judges choose the winner.
Aron Rex was set to face off against Drew Galloway in the finals at Bound For Glory, but Galloway was pulled from the event because of an injury. It was later announced that Eddie Edwards would be his replacement.
The first round was awarded to Eddie Edwards. During the second round the lights went out and the crowd chanted, “Pay your light bill!” Round two was awarded to Aron Rex.
The match went all three rounds, and at the end of the third round the referee had to pull Rex and Edwards apart.
It was then announced that Aron Rex had won the match and title via a split decision.
Eddie Edwards congratulated Rex before leaving the ring, and Rex announced that he would give Edwards a rematch whenever he wants it.
