Time flies doesn’t it? Believe it or not, WrestleMania season is right around the corner. It seems like we’re still basking in the glow of the excellent event that was WrestleMania XXX but before we know it, we’ll be watching WrestleMania 31. If you want to believe speculation however, we won’t be seeing The Rock at the big event.
Rumors have suggested that WWE is kicking an angle featuring Vince McMahon vs. The Authority into high gear with plans for it to culminate at WrestleMania 31. Those same rumors are saying Triple H might face The Rock who would be fighting on Vince’s behalf for control of the company. Sounds pretty awesome doesn’t it?
Unfortunately The Rock has a movie coming out just five days after WrestleMania. It’s called “Furious 7” it’s something of a franchise, maybe you’ve heard of it. Well anyway if you need to be brought up to speed the last film in the series made $788 million dollars. That’s more money than Dr. Evil can shake a stick at and The Rock will be obligated to make many public appearances to promote it.
Given the fact that The Rock got injured during both his WrestleMania 28 and 29 matches against John Cena and had to miss public appearances to promote a few films, he’s facing some major pressure from movie studios not to wrestle next year.
Do you want to see The Rock wrestle Triple H one more time? Oh hell yeah! But the fact of the matter is he’s not a full time wrestler but he is a full time actor. It’s all speculation at this point but if the movie studios have their way, The Great One will be sitting this one out.
At least we got to see him lay the smackdown on Rusev after he pointed out the fact that he wears his shorts all the way to his nipples. He totally does. You can’t unsee it.
