NXT is the place to be right now for up and coming professional wrestlers who have high hopes of working on the WWE main roster someday. Every year fans get to see some of their favorite NXT stars get called up, and recently some fan favorites from WWE’s developmental brand have joined the cruiserweight division.
Hideo Itami recently joined the 205 Live brand, and Roderick Strong was called up as well. Following Enzo Amore’s WWE release a few weeks ago, the Cruiserweight Title was vacated, and a tournament is currently being held to determine a new champion.
Ryan Satin of Pro Wrestling Sheet is now reporting that there’s been talk of Lio Rush possibly getting called up soon to join the tournament for the Cruiserweight Title.
Satin posted the following:
It was recently reported that 205 Live will be going in a different direction, and that Vince McMahon has stepped aside in order to let Triple H reboot the brand.
Vince reportedly wanted to do a show that was more character based, but it looks like Triple H will be focusing on in-ring competition to give the show more of a Cruiserweight Classic feel.
