Another Name Confirmed For The 2017 WWE Hall Of Fame Class

WWE has announced another member who will be inducted into the prestigious WWE Hall of Fame, and this is a big one. Some argue that Rick Rude should have been inducted years ago, but he’s finally getting his shot in 2017 and he’ll be inducted by Ricky Steamboat. Rude is among other things the only man to have ever appeared on two major wrestling promotions’ television shows in the same week, (three if you were in a market that aired his episode of ECW that same week).

He was old school through and through and in a day and age where they couldn’t get away with some of the angles he participated in now, he is finally being enshrined in the WWE Hall of Fame, a position he certainly deserves. Although he never captured the big prize in the WWF, he was a founding member of D-Generation X and jumped over to the nWo during his infamous night of “double duty.”

Rude got his start in Jim Crockett Promotions and found great success before coming up to New York where Vince McMahon helped make him a house-hold name. His Rude Awakenings and DDT’s were signatures of the wrestling business. Now his legacy even lives on via Bruce Prichard’s coverage of his legendary career on his podcast.

It’s just a shame he won’t be able to attend the ceremony on March 31st because he tragically passed away in 1999 at the young age of 40-years-old. This is a well deserved honor and fans of Rude’s will have new reason to celebrate his amazing legacy for years to come due to this esteemed honor.
