American Alpha are the current SmackDown Tag Team Champions, and they’re expected to put their titles on the line at WrestleMania 33.
Over the course of their career with WWE fans have spent a good amount of time comparing the team to future WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle because their amateur wrestling background. Due to the comparisons the idea of American Alpha possibly teaming with Kurt Angle is an idea that gets talked about often in the wrestling community.
During a recent interview with The Sun, American Alpha talked about potentially teaming up with Kurt Angle and Jason Jordan seems to be open to the idea.
“It would be great to work with Kurt. He paved the way for us amateur wrestlers. Also, his mind – the way he works in ring – it’s a thing of beauty. It’s amazing. There are all these stories we’ve heard about Kurt Angle – and obviously we’ve gotten some comparisons – but it would be really nice to work hand-in-hand with him, help get our game to the next level. Obviously he has so much experience that he can put upon us. It would be great to just sit under the tree of knowledge and let him talk with us and give us some pointers.”
WrestleMania 33 is in Orlando this year, and Kurt Angle will be in the building along with American Alpha. Chad Gable also noted that he’s hoping that they will be able to get some advice from Angle at Camping World Stadium on April 2nd.
“We’re really looking forward to Orlando. Maybe we’ll get a minute to sit down with him and ask a few things. He did the exact path that we’re trying to do right now and succeeded in the biggest possible way. If there’s anyone that’s going to help Jason and I, he’s the man for the job.”
As far as whether or not Kurt Angle is interested in putting a new team together, he did say last year during an appearance on The World According To Wrestling that he thinks it could work.
“For me to go back and, if I do go back I’d love to be able to wrestle, but I know I can’t do it full time. I’m 47 years-old. And that’s why those guys would be perfect as my team, like a Team Angle, because they could do the wrestling for me until the big one comes. So it would be kind of cool to have that. I’ve watched them wrestle and they’re really good. It would be really cool to have a new Team Angle. I could do the big matches; the Summerslams and the Wrestlemanias. I think that would be a good mix. And it would also give them a great rub, a rub that they need. We’ll see if we do something like that, I don’t know if it’s on the cards, but you never know.”
